Restaurant Alice in Wonderland in Tokyo

Based on Lewis Carroll’s classic story, Alice in Wonderland is one of the most unusual restaurants in Tokyo that combines psychedelic decorations, dramatic designs and waitresses dressed in Alice costumes. Located in Tokyo’s Ginza shopping district, the 2,254 square-foot space is divided into themed sections that reflect scenes from the 1951 animated movie. The restaurant was designed by Japanese studio Fantastic Design Works and is the fourth “Alice in Wonderland” restaurant opened by Japanese company Diamond Dining.

Bio Robot Refrigerator will keep your food cool in the year 2050

Electrolux Design Lab holds a yearly competition to create home appliances, and each year there’s a particular theme. The theme for 2010 was “The 2nd Space Age,” where students were tasked to redesign household appliances  for the year 2050 that will not only take up less space but also use less energy, both of which will be at a premium in the future. All products have to stick with “Scandinavian Design values,” which Electrolux says includes environmental sensitivity, intuitive use, and pleasing to the eyes. Think IKEA.
Russian student Yuriy Dmitriev came up with the Bio Robot Refrigerator which uses a “biopolymer gel through luminescence” to keep its food cold. This device doesn’t look like a normal fridge with a door and separate compartments. The Bio Fridge would be made of a lime-green-colored odorless non-sticky gel that literally morphs around each item placed into the fridge. It looks like something out of a 90s Nickelodeon commercial or something you’d expect to see in a sci-fi flick. When you’re ready to get your food, you simply reach through the gel and grab the product.

The 3 L's of a Lasting Marriage

Love is the very foundation of good marriage, but it turns out, there are a few other “L” words to consider. Blogger Leigh Pennebaker explains:

Listening: It is so important and helpful to be able to really listen to your partner. When you know someone so well, it's easy to feel like you have them all figured out. Sometimes that's great, but other times it can mean rushing to judge or to make assumptions that might not be true. Striving to really, deeply listen is the cornerstone of communication between my husband and me. It inspires empathy and compassion -- and you can't have too much of those things in a marriage!

Laughing: Don't take things too seriously. My husband has the great gift of being able to introduce levity with kindness whenever things get tense between us. It helps to put things in perspective. When you laugh together it's hard to be angry.


Looking:  A wonderful thing to do regularly to connect with your spouse is to gaze silently into each other's eyes without speaking for several minutes. It’s such a simple act, but you would be surprised how revelatory and healing it can be. The next time you just can't seem to regain your relationship mojo, try this exercise. It will get you back to a beautiful place before you know it.
