The theme for 2010 was “The 2nd Space Age,” where students were tasked to redesign household appliances &nbsp;for the year 2050 that will not only take up less space but also use less energy, both of which will be at a premium in the future. All products have to stick with “Scandinavian Design values,” which Electrolux says includes environmental sensitivity, intuitive use, and pleasing to the eyes. Think IKEA.<br />Russian student Yuriy Dmitriev came up with the Bio Robot Refrigerator which uses a “biopolymer gel through luminescence” to keep its food cold. This device doesn’t look like a normal fridge with a door and separate compartments. The Bio Fridge would be made of a lime-green-colored odorless non-sticky gel that literally morphs around each item placed into the fridge. It looks like something out of a 90s Nickelodeon commercial or something you’d expect to see in a sci-fi flick. The show’s host, comedian <b>Oh Jung Tae</b> managed to stop the man, and security staff intervened thereafter by apprehending the man and preventing any further accidents from occurring.<br />Audience members reportedly looked on with shock, and were further impressed with Taeyeon’s professional attitude in returning and performing until the end.<br />A representative of <b>SM Entertainment</b> stated after the incident, “<i>During the latter part of the event, there was an unexpected accident. Taeyeon, however, handled the matter bravely, and security staff prevented the situation from becoming more severe. At first, the audience and concert representatives all thought that a staff member was going on stage. After the concert, SNSD returned back to their dorms and are currently resting. It seats 23 passengers in a luxury setting, with multimedia controls in each comfortable seat. The harness-style seatbelt makes you feel like you’re in a racecar (racebus?) and 16 gull-wing doors give it a DeLorean-like feel. <br />The bus debuted last fall and is starting to appear at transit trade shows. Not only was this a big bet from FIFA that a country so small could provide a memorable football tournament, but the temperatures experienced during the summer months when the tournament is played are extreme to say the least.<br />Come 2022, footballers from around the world will be heading to Doha, in a country where temperatues commonly reach 46 degrees Celsius, and don’t often fall below 29 degrees Celsius. FIFA knew this when it awarded the tournament to the country, so it also stipulated that the open stadiums must be air conditioned in some way.<br />How do you air condition an open stadium? Qatar University believes it has the answer, and it doesn’t involve lots of air conditioning units pumping out freezing cold air.<br />Qatar is a very rich country due to the massive amounts of oil and natural gas it has. Therefore they can think outside of the box for problems like this and not have to worry too much about cost. Dr. Saud Abdul Ghani, who runs the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering department at the Univeristy, has come up with a very green and nature-inspired way of solving this problem: artificial solar clouds.<br />If you’ve ever been outside on a very hot day then you know that standing in a shaded area can result in a temperature drop of several degrees. Dr. Ghani’s idea is to create an artificial cloud that would float above the stadiums covering a large area of the playing field in shadow. As the sun in blazing down on the cloud while it is doing this, all power can be generated through solar panels.<br />The cloud will be constructed of carbonic materials and have four solar engines allowing it to be moved by remote control as well as hover in place. We assume at night they will be landed near the stadiums. As for cost, the first one is thought to be in the region of $500,000, but Dr. Ghana believes that will fall and the usefulness of the clouds will extend well beyond the World Cup.<br />While a novel idea, we can’t help but think a strong gust of wind may cause major problems for the cloud. Medics rushed to the scene, and the 12 year old delivered a healthy baby girl in a nearby building. The young mother was then taken to the hospital but has refused to name the father.<br />Family members said that the schoolgirl's father previously sexually abused another older daughter and served two years in jail for the sex crime, according to the Dutch newspaper <i>De Telegraaf.</i><br />The girl was living with her father and brother after he won custody following a divorce from their mother, who was originally from Suriname, a former Dutch colony in South America.<br />The girl's stepsister, 30, told the newspaper, "I warned him. I am shocked about what happened."<br />Dutch police said in a statement yesterday: "The girl got pregnant when she was 11, which in itself means there has been a criminal offense. Article 244 of the Penal Code, sex with a minor under 12, is punishable. In addition, there are now [circumstances] reported by the Child Protection Board. When the tsunami struck his home city of Ishinomaki he was at work, but knew his wife of 20 years was at home with no way to escape the raging torrent of water. All the advice said to get safe and stay safe, but Akaiwa knew his wife could not do that and it was up to him to help her.<br />So while others fled the area, Akaiwa found himself some scuba gear and dived into the water. We’ve all seen the power of the tsunami and its ability to move vehicles as if they were toys and destroy buildings like they were made of paper. But Akaiwa made it back to his home somehow where his house was flooded.<br />His wife was on the top floor quickly running out of breathing room, so he shared the respirator and got her out and to safety. But Akaiwa wasn’t finished, his mother was also trapped in another house so he went and found her too, saving both the women in his life.<br />Everyone out in Japan helping to keep the people without homes safe and taking part in the clean up are heroes, but this guy is something else.
